SHU, ZES, and CCO complete QMS Internal Audits

To improve overall service delivery while promoting more efficient resource use across their operations, the Seed Health and Logistics Unit (SHU), Breeding Operations - Zeigler Experiment Station (ZES) and Breeding Operations - Cross Cutting Operations (CCO) units conducted a series of Quality Management System (QMS) internal audits from 18 October to 24 November 2022. The QMS was established within SHU, ZES, and CCO to achieve and maintain a high standard of quality in all aspects of the delivery of research operations, services, and support within and across the global IRRI network.

As part of the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) cycle of QMS, internal audits are periodically conducted to identify non-conformities, address risks, and find opportunities for risk-based thinking, customer focus, and continuous improvement.

Further, these audits help the management assess their respective and collective units’ adherence to ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System. Ultimately, it aids and informs corrective action plans to address areas of concern and improvements.

The audit series was kicked off with an Internal Audit Training Session on 10-11 October, which was facilitated by Enrico Mercado and Lily Molina. The following attendees completed the training and later led the facilitation of the audit series that followed:

“Amazed by the completion of this milestone! This achievement is evidence of how far IRRI can make it with a motivated team and a committed leadership,” said SHU Senior Manager Martina Castellion, who extends her commendation to everyone that contributed to this exercise.

Kudos are in order for the SHU, ZES, and CCO units for leading the charge toward upholding international quality management standards for better, safer, and more effective service delivery!
